MSI NX6800GT PCI-E?

Hello,

I recently snapped up a 256MB MSI 6800GT PCI-Express Video Card and i was wondering if this was a decent card. I can't find any reviews on the card but it was cheaper than retail price and was brand new in retail packaging (£240.00). I was originally on a 256MB Galaxy 6800GT AGP but i sold it for £30.00 more that the PCI-E and sold my motherboard to pay for a DFI Lanparty NF4 UT Ultra-D. In effect the only reason i jumped on the PCI-E bandwagon is because, the way i saw it, i was getting New Technology for £30.00 in my back pocket. It's understandable 🙂.

Anyway, i was wondering if i made a good choice with the motherboard and graphics card, another issue is will i be able to overclock my PCI-E MSI card to Ultra Speeds (400/1.10) and beyond? Ultra speeds would be sufficient for me but do you think i wil be able to push it further? Im quite excited but i don't know if i made the right choice, i hope someone has the same items and can reassure me on these questions.

Hardware Bought:

DFI Lanparty NF4 UT Ultra-D Socket 939 Motherboard;
256MB MSI NX6800GT PCI-Express Graphics Card.

Thanks for reading!

Aye i read it ... im very worried now. I knew i should'nt have gone with MSI now! I used to have the K8N Neo2 Platinum but i NEVER worked after 2 board replacements so that was no good. Now i originally thought "Oh! Thats a pretty decent price and i have known people to give MSI good reviews on their cards + a nice bundle of stuff".

Confused and panicing now! ARG!

If this card does come as a 16 Pipeline version will it be a a decent card to use? Also will i be able to use SLi properly if it does come as a 16 Pipeline version? Also what about the nVidia Core used? Should the 6800GT be NV40 or NV45? Hope someone can clear this up, thanks. Otherwise i will have to send it back asap and get a different make of card for a bit more money which, i hope, i don't have to do.

Cheers!

Looks like a normal 16 pipe sli ready 6800gt to me.

Indeed it is but MSI produced about 350 6800GT cards which had only 12 Pipelines and 5 Vertex Shaders than 16 Pipelines and 6 Vertex Shaders. Im just quering about if i DO get the 16 pipe version it will be as good as other brands? Never had an MSI GFX Card before but this "hiccup" from MSI kind of worries me, i really don't want to spend £240 of my hard earned cash on a card that is not what i wanted. Apparently people have SLi problems on the 12 pipe and i was also wondering if the 16 Pipe version is better for SLi mode so i can "possibly" upgrade in the futute! 🙂
