hi,

some confusion about the bios the msi nforce board comes with right now. (or will come with)
(the bios was the weakest thing about that board actually)

I thought that the recent reviews all had it with an Amibios (?????) but on msi's homepage (taiwan)...their latest bios seems to be an Award !

I also stumbled (google...) around mentioning Phoenix-Bios, Ami-Bios and now Award....result is that i dont have a clue what bios the recently tested boards really had (see www.tbreak.com, www.amdworld.co.uk, the MSI board review etc...)

Would be interesting to know if maybe there is really a better bios out right now...

Oh yeah..and the lastest nforce *chipset drivers* (from nov 5th)...they claim to have support for all the onboard stuff now.....would like to know what they fixed...added.....

The screenshots I have seen in the reviews show an AMI BIOS and also information on www.msicomputer.com says it uses an AMI BIOS. Of cause that doesn't mean that they won't change their minds :)

Perhaps the latest drivers now support EAX from the onboard sound. That option was not available in previous driver releases.

yeah...go on the taiwanese site ! (www.msi.com.tw)..search "nforce". when it comes up..click on it..and then click on the menubar/bios. It says Award 2.0. Actually i downloaded it already..and used lha to depack the bios-file (hehe....little trick ;)...and was looking at the hexdump just to see whats going on...

Actually the US site doesnt have a BIOS server, they simply link it to the Taiwanese site(msi.com.tw), and if they say it's Award, then it most likely is. Phoenix BIOS and Award are the same.
