MSI NF980-G65 mobo question

According to the manual this board has 6 SATA ports. I have 3 hard drives and 2 optical drives connected. The Windows 7 Computer page shows the 3 HD's but only one OD. Also when I check in the BIOS, it shows the three HD's and only one OD for a total of 4 SATA devices. What happened to the other 2 SATA ports? Any thoughts or soloutions to getting the second OD working? The board's BIOS is up to date.

How do you have the optical drives connected?

Assuming the SATA numbering starts at 1, the convention states to start your HDD's at SATA 1 -2 -3 and then place both optical drives at SATA 5-6, leaving SATA 4 empty.

Try shuffling or switching the two optical drives and see if one shows up while the other disappears.

I currently have the HD's at the 1,2&3 SATA ports. The OD's are in the 4&5 ports. I switched the OD cables with the same result earlier before posting. I will try your suggestion. Thanks.
