I just got the MSI Neo4 Platinum today and I wanted to install the Zalman 7700, but I was having a heck of a time trying to get the backplate off. I noticed that it seemed to be glued on. I looked in the manual (page 2-5) and it showed that it shouldn't be installed on the motherboard and that it was something that I was supposed to do. I would like to know if yours was glued on when you received it. Thanks.

They're all taped on.. It's some kind of black tape. It's very stick too.. I pryed mine off to get the Zalman backplate onto it.

Well, other people recommend hard plastic like a credit card or something.. I found that they flexed too much and went with a screw driver. :)

dont even bother, you can just install the zalman onto the msi backplate. I did on my msi k8n neo4 sli with my 7700cuA and i didnt even touch anything. Just use the screws they provide and the brackets from the zalman.

In the case of my K8N Neo Platinum, the backplate was glued on. I held it over a table lamp (60w bulb or so) for a couple minutes to heat up a little and soften the glue. Then I pried it off with a plastic spatula like you use for patching holes in drywall. However, the backplate on my new K8N Neo4 Platinum wasn't glued, it just fell right off after removing the topside bracket

I just used the MSI backplate with the Zalman 7700 Cu. Works fine. Also... found much quieter chipset fan/heatsink here in Japan for the MSI K8 Neo4 Platinum if anyone is interested...does not block PCI-E slot at all... Mine was just too damn noisy....

Also found out the newest BIOS will not allow running Plextor 716SA burner on Silicon Image RAID ports or using 2x Raptors (RAID 0) on Nvidia SATA ports.

Yeah, i'd guess you can just use the MSI backplate.

I did that on my Neo2 with my Zalman, rather than trying to rip it off.
