I just did a fresh install on my system of windows 98 .. Super fast install all went dandy.. Until I sat at the loading splash screen(frist boot).. (looks at the animation bar) WTF its lagging.. On my old system it didnt lag like this it went smooth.. Like this bar animation is chugging..

My specs are

Msi Neo4 Plat Pci-e (non sli)
amd 3500+
2x80gb sata in raid sockets 5 and 6 (silicon)
BFG 6800 Ultra OC
2x512 pc 2700 ram

(ive tested swapping rams and Raid cables nothing worked)

Any suggetions

I also.. Reformated on my old comp if that means anything..

its a antec 550 truepower...

but.. my last motherboard set the optomized raid settings to 16k using a silicon chip.

hmm and this new one sets it at 64k..

that may be the problem doing two low lvl reformats and seeing what happens o_Ooooo

Know the board pretty well. Also know MSI's disclaimer that MSI NF4 boards do not support W98/ME---> Product page

What that essentially means is that they haven't released an official driver set for either os. I know nVidia hasn't released drivers for W98 either. What drivers are you using?

Vohiep84, what was the problem? Was it the os that you are using?

I am planning on buying the same mobo, along with the same processor that you have and can use all the information that I can get :)

You can probrably get the os to load, but there are no os (W98) specific drivers for NF4, so the splash screen is about as far as you'll get. ;)
