MSI Neo2 ram issues

Hi,

I have a neo2 platinum and a 3000+ processor and some cheap generic 3200 ram. The ram runs fine at default speeds. My problem comes when I overclock.

I can push the fsb up to 290~300 but have to use the ram set at 100mhz ( I am guessing this is msi way of saying a 2:1 divider) This makes the ram run at about 150. So theoretically I should be able to use the 133mhz setting and the ram should be running at its default speed.

I can not post with it set at this. I cant post with the ram set at 133 and my fsb at 230... this should be really underclocking the ram... Does anyone know anything about this? Is there something else I am missing? I probably will buy better ram, but it seems strange that I cant even get this ram working at its rated speed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Reid.

What cas timings??? Try bumping up the vdimm a bit...board undervolts and needs some juice when ocing....Also have you tried 2t instead of 1t.....

Ya, I droped all of my timings as slow as possible and am using 2t. I have not tried giving the memory more voltage as it does work at stock speeds at 200mhz. Should I need to since it is not being overclocked?

edit:
I have also used auto for all memsettings and a bunch of diffrent combinations....

Again even though the ram is not overclocked I have noticed that raising things like vagp, and vdimm up a notch can sometimes have an effect on overall system stability....You are technically ocing the HTT with raising the fsb and that may have na effect on the ram controller even though it is being divided down...

What vdimm are you running?? I would run 2.7v at least an try it up a notch or so if thast doesn't work...

How many sticks??? 4 sticks will require you to run lower...

Duvie..you got a great A64 OC and a very nice BFG 6800 OC..very few that I have seen will 385/900...I thought my BFG 6800 OC was doing well at 365/870(it did work better on my intel setup..I was able to run 375/870 very smooth)

Thanks for your help. I will try playing with the voltage when I get home. I am using 2 sticks of ram, not 4.
