(this part copied from another post a few days ago)
hey all, this weekend as i was waitin on more parts to finish my WC rig build i decided to play around with settings at my 250 x 10 setting that i have been using pretty much since 2k5 started. or before even. anyhoo, on to my question

it seems that runnin at 1.425 + 5% or whatev (since im using a msi neo plat) is a voltage setting it likes, and i like it too cuz its not that much heat coming out.
now i decided, lemme throw a smidgen more volts at this thing and i can see what happens with some long prime runs (the previous setting would go about 15- 20 hours then gimme a rounding error or expectation error im not sure).

well this more voltage thing made prime95 fail pretty quickly, usually between 5- 6 hours. so i tried various settings:
1.425 + 8.3%
1.425 + 10%
1.45 + 5%
1.45 + 8.3%
1.45 + 10%

none of them lasted longer or shorter and none of them pushed my swiftech storm past say 51 max load as read out by mbm or everest.

so whats the deal folks? winnies like less voltage? is there some way to give the chipset more voltage cuz of the 250mhz? does it want more?

note: specs in sig / ram iss on 166 divider resulting in 208mhz and its memtest stable over 24 hours holla. the power components seem to be doin well cuz i got a big 120 blowin some decent air across the the whole ram and mosfets section of hte board then out hte back (no exhaust fan so i put it nearer to the front of the case)

let me know if you guys have any idea whats up or other general OC tips here. thanks!

+++++

also want to know if there is any good bios'es out there now as im using hte 1.36mod. bios that have TRUE voltage control and not having to set bios voltage to 1.55 then having that actually be 1.35 or whatev.

basically i would love to know what it is i need to do with this voltage thing, if winnies for some reason like less voltage even tho 11.55 aint a ton and also if there is any new bioses liek 1.8 or 1.9 that have been modified to finally work really well. the offical 1.9 crashed my system.

Winnie's seem to hit a wall after which they don't respond well with more voltage. My 3000+ winnie wil do 2.5Ghz and it can do at about 1.5v. I can go all the way up to 1.6v and I still can't get the chip higher and be prime stable.

yea but do you get your thing FAILING quicker with more voltage? liek i know about hitting the wall and i think the wall for mine i found was 2.65 or supn, but im sayin it seems like MORE voltage actually makes it "less" stable.... this making sense?

more importantly can i trust any of these new bioses? is there one where hte vcore selections work as they should?

My winnie does 2563 at 1.5 V, after that i need to give it 1.6 to get any higher. Maxing out at 2607, so just a small gain for the extra voltage. Most winnies seem to hit a voltage wall around 2.6 on air.

ok cool. but still, is there a bios out there that has a proper working vcore selector? so i dont have to worry about my selections not producing undervolts? where selecting 1.4 is actually 1.4? and im watercooled right now....

i like this 250x10 for 2.5 right now. i think its a sweet spot for my winnie (and obviosly others) and so i want ot make sure i am giving just the right amount of volts to make it work. help!

this board will always undervolt. Just use the bios option that overvolts bya % to increase it. I am running a modded 1.9bios that has been working great for me. Also supposedly supports X2s if you want to upgrade to one later on without flashing again(im using the NVRAID so that was an issue to me, I don't want to potentially lose my array if I moved it to a newer BIOS later on)

It does and has been confirmed since 1.9b5....NOw ther has been an official 1.9bios for the E6 as well as an official 1A bios which added 150 and 183 dividers.....

I would like to see a bios that guive us the 13,15, and 18% options like the old 1.36b mod bios....

Highe end air could handle 1.55v on an X2 and I cant get that high.....water colling should definitely be able to handle 1.6v range....

so whats this bios you guys are talkin about? i'd like to try it. i tried a few so far tonight as i moved the computer from the workbench back to ma desk and got me some internet. most were decent enough... had probs with 2.... thing is, im using 180NFM(Rev.3).rar cuz its the newest modded bios that i downloaded that still allowed control over the nb fan. some of the super modded ones that were adding other mem dividers did not even have it possible making my nb fan run at full speed aka noisy....

anyhoo what bios are you talkin about. it would be nice to have x2 support beforei buy one tho i think thats a far way off...
