That card would be just fine. You can probably get a better bang/buck with an ATI 57xx if you can get to one at decent prices where your at. But the 250 can still pump out the frames. :)

On the ATI side:

1. 4870 1GB - very similar performance to the 5770, DX10, will easily beat a GTS250 and is about as fast as the GTX260 216: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-436-_-Product
2. 5770 1GB - great price/performance ratio, DX11 and cooler running videocards: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-317-_-Product

My recommendation is the 5770 1GB from the above, unless you can find a used 4890.

On the NV side:

1. At least get a 1GB version of the GTS250 if you are considering it.
2. Used GTX260 216 - same performance as the 5770 1GB or 4870 1GB.
3. Used GTX275/280/285 - 4890 is about as fast as the GTX275/280, while 285 is not much slower than the newer GTX465

My pick is a used GTX275 card.

As you can see, older generation high end cards are still faster than the 5770: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/xfx-radeon-hd5830_6.html#sect1
