the only differences between the 2 are:
msi
ddr 400 ram max
"glossy" screen
dvd rw
asus
ddr
2 533 ram max
"matte" screen
dvd combo (most resellers try to add more for even that though)
the asus has a switch for 533 and 400mhz FSB processors (making it really easy to OC a 400mhz FSB celeron m or pentium m AKA 33% faster) I don't know for sure but i think you would have to do the
pin mod to OC the 1032.
they are the same for hard drives, but the asus can also do sata drives and you can put another hd or battery in the optical drive (extra $)
they both can use a pci wireless card but to work correctly i think it needs to be a specific intel one. information on that in following link:
http://www.synnex.com/sb/sb_byon.html this page has assembly guides and spec sheets on both the notebooks.
you could put ddr533 in the 1032 (if they even make ddr1 sodimms that fast) but it would only run at ddr400 and the timings of it would probably suck more anyways.
i'm going to get the 1032 as soon as its confirmed to me that it does dual channel memory. it should, but others have screwed the pooch too. i want the glossy screen and dvd burner and i've always wanted an irda port.
they use the same chipset so they should be more alike than you think. check out notebookforums too. lots of info on the z71v next to none on the 1032 though
the z71v seems to have a "sparkle" problem with the screen, but i think it might be an nvidia driver thing. i've also heard things about the asus batteries being short lived. then again the 1032 may have the same problems but it isn't as poplular so we just don't know
