Got a new AMD XP 1800 Thoroughbred processor.

Put in in my MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU.

No post!

I had an Athlon 1.4GHz T-Bird in it.

I put the old processor back in, and it still works...

I try the Thoroughbred again, still no go...

I'm thinking that the CPU is messed up, but to be sure I try it in an ECS K7S5A...

Works fine!

Try one more time on the MSI motherboard... nothing

The MSI is supposed to support up to XP 2600 I thought.

Anyone know why some motherboards won't work with a Thoroughbred ?

Gonna try to update the BIOS although the update says nothing about Thoroghbred compatibility..

if you have an old bios, i would try updating the bios before throwing back the cpu for an exchange

if not.....maybe a friends computer?

Just updated BIOs to newest version ..

Dated 10-21-02

Still doesn't work..

This sucks ..

I noticed that this board is only supposed to support cpu's up to xp 2100

so I think it doesn't work with Thoroughbreds ... ARgh ..

I'll have to trade my brother for his ECS board till I get a new one with Raid and USb 2.0

Yeah..

Guess not :(

Also noticed that my heatsink doesn't fit on the ECS, so I guess my bro gets a new XP 1800 Thoroughbred
