MSI Megabook M510C and P M 765 (2.1) don't work!

I had a Pentium M 1.5, and recently bought a Pentium M 765 (2.1), to upgrade it. After sucessfully installing the CPU, it gets reconised as a 2.1 Ghz, but at the same time it is only operating at 600Mhz. (battery optimized mode?) even on AC power.

I noticed in the BIOS a setting to Enable Intel Speedstep, but whenever i apply this setting, save to bios and reboot, it automatically goes back to disabled.

Do you think there is a compatiblity issue with the 765 (2.1) and the current bios release for the Megabook M510C?

Could you please give me some advice on what to do next to help solve this issue?

So are you saying that the CPU ALWAYS stays at 600MHz? How are you verifying this?
Google for the program called SpeedStep and use that before you jump to conclusions

yes im saying that the CPU is stuck at 600Mhz!

i have run Sisoft sanda and a few 3dmark tests, with and without power plugged in and the benchmarks results that i get confirm i am running at no more than 600Mhz.

i have alos tried all the power profiles.

Its clearly a BIOS issue because when i try and turn SpeedStep on and save the results, the next time i go into BIOS it's disabled again!!!!

i already tried speedswitch xp, and it doesnt make any difference at all,

i have also spoken to MSI about this issue this morning, and they seem to think that the CPU isn't 100% supported with the current firmware, (the firmware is dated 7/14/04 afterall)

They have asked me to send the SL info of the CPU.

hopefully a firmware fix is in order!

update:

msi were kindly enough to send me a pre release 2.60 of the bios for the board, it works well with the 2.1 and the bios also has a few little new items built into it!

Very cool

Thanks
