I've been looking at this sexy beast:
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/slim_pc/slm/pro_slm_detail.php?UID=547
(or the AMD version)

However, I figured I'd ask here if anyone has some actual first-hand experience with these? Any problems with them? Are they worth it? Anything in particular I should watch out for?

And what kinds of restrictions are there on what components I can plug in? (Like, say, a 2-slot graphics card might take up a bit too much space? ;))

From what I've read, I'm getting the impression it comes with a cd player for the hi-fi part, but if you need to actually use cd-roms, you need a separate cd-rom drive?

Any info would be appreciated :)

They only take proprietary CD/DVD drives, as far as I know. That's a big problem, since you can't take out the drive that's already inside to put a DVD-RW drive instead...

You can put any just about any drive you want in there. I've had 3 different drives in mine. An old Kenwood 72X cdrom drive, a generic 52X cd-rw, and a Plextor 12X DVD-+RW.

the biggest bsted with this pc i found was trying to get a full size agp card to fit.

Take extra care with your video card insertion.

the remote had problems to work under windows.

They might be ironed out now with better drivers.

The whole unit when fully loaded could burn toast.

Take extra care with the temperatures.

apart from the above damn nice and my 8 yr old niece loves it.

I just bought one of these and put it all together and it is AWESOME. i put in an Athlon XP 2500+ Barton with 512 pc3200 from crucial. it runs pretty hot but it's very solid, not too loud (as a shuttle i have previously built), and it looks really cool. the radio function is soso (never use it) but as a computer, it rocks.
