Check out this article. Not too much we don't already know, but it does have some benchamrks MSI ran so we can compare them to our results. The interesting thing is the screenshot of the BIOS Setup showing "High System Performance". I haven't seen this setting in any of the BIOSes I've used (1.00, 1.09, 1.10). I just downloaded the beta BIOS from MSI's website and am going to flash with that and see if it has it and run some benchmarks. I'll post my results when I'm done. http://www.msi.com.tw/techexpress/ddr_promote/page1.htm

Ahh, but remember, according to them (well, some of them) there is no resistor problem! I flashed my BIOS to 1.0B11. The BIOS setup now shows the "High System Performance" option. It seems they removed the "Load Fail-Safe Default" option. Another thing I noticed is under Advanced Chipset Features the first item is "System Performance" with settings of "Fast" and "Ultra". Oddly enough, I saw no difference in both BIOS settings and benchmarks between the two. I also wouldn't call this the "highest performance" BIOS as my benchmarks are lower than with the 1.0B9 BIOS. I can't say yet if it's more stable but it did fix an interesting problem. I downloaded 3DMark2001 but it wouldn't install, it said the file was corrupted. After flashing the BIOS it installed with no problem. My 3DMark score was 3594. As for the memory benchmarks, I got 522/702. One thing the new BIOS setting does is oc the cpu. It bumped the multiplier up to 10.5 but left the FSB at 133. When the system boots it shows my 1.33GHz Tbird as 1450MHz, yet WCPUID shows it at 1405MHz. Now I just have to see how stable this BIOS is.

Right... Anand just made all that stuff up. Give me a break!

Anand didn't make that stuff up. MSI has admitted that the resistor on R126 increases performance. However, it decreases stability. Thus the only board being manufactured by them currently is the one with the resistor on R127. The R126 board may come out later as a Turbo version once they are able to make it stable. What gets me is that some people have reported getting a retail board with the resistor on R126. That seems to contradict MSI's statement that there is only 1 board currently available.

Some interesting news I saw posted on The Tech Report. Don't know how true it is but..

"An MSI rep at the AMD Tech Team dinner, when pressed very hard for info (I had to go steal the Asus rep's only pen for him), reported that the R126/R127 resistor mod on K7T266 affects memory type/speed detection. Apparently, the original layout detected the RAM as PC133 instead of PC2100, or PC100 instead of PC1600. I'm not sure how such a thing would actually work, but that's what the guy told me."

haha Im sorry but I had to laugh when I read this thing... We need to change "All your base are belong to us" to "MSI Leads You To Optimize!"

Someone set us up the BIOS!

Did you guys get a chance to read the first look from PC Citrix. They got a memory bandwith of 718/925 on overclocked T-Bird 1.2 (266 FSB) with the following option :

9 x 153 (1.38 Ghz)
CAS 2
4-way interleave
1T enabled.

I am planning on getting this board next week and I would like to know your opinions. I'd already ordered 256MB Crucial PC2100 memory and will be getting it on Monday.
