I just put sempron 3000+ in place of my old athlon socket A processor. My old processor used to run at 1.1ghz, when i put in the new sempron it said it was running at only 1.3ghz. i went into the bios and changed the FSB freq from 110 to 200. The multiplyer was set to auto. Now when i turn on my comp it just goes to a black screen, i try resetting it and cold rebooting, even turning off the psu and turning it back on. Nothing works. Did i fry my CPU? Anyone know anything i can try? im out of ideas. PS my Mobo is a MSI KT4AV (via chipset).

First of all, I would reset my BIOS settings back to default settings (don't crank anything up yet). Second, I would make sure to get the latest BIOS for my motherboard, and read the release notes to determine wether the semprons are properly supported on this mobo. After you've done that, then you should try reseating all your hardware, including your CPU and heatsink. Then, if it doesn't post, you may need to order a newer mobo.

BTW, I did a search, and they do have a BIOS that supports 3000+ sempron. Go hear and get it:
