I have an MSI KT3ultra ARU. I'm trying to get the Onboard sound to work. The drivers load fine, No conflicts. I've checked the JAUD1 jumpers (5-6, 9-10)and everything is set correctly. i have the spkrs in jack1(green) on the back of the mobo. I do not have an audio cable running from cd-rom to MB but that should not make a difference due to using MP3 to test. it is set to 2 channel audio.
I did however not reinstall the OS(2kpro) when i replaced the old gigabyte mobo. but i did install a fresh copy of XP on a second partition and the audio still does not work. I've tried using both powered speakers and a set of headphones. i've reinstalled the MSI drivers but have not tried via 4in1's. Do i need to somehow clean out the registry of old realtek info and completely remove everything? then try to reinstall? Any ideas?
