Had the KT3Ultra2 for about 6 months and had no problems with it. Now the computer randomly shuts down on me and produces 3 long beeps and after a lapse of time another 3 and so on...after checking in the manual it says that memory detection test failed. I unplug the DDRAM and put it back, the computer can now start. Several hours later shuts down again.
Also in PCAlert4 (MSI monitoring Utility) what I notice is that 2nd window under voltages that reads 3.3V is always below 3.0v and often drops to 2.74 and turns all red and starts beeping
Usually the normal reading is 3.16V but after about 2 hours of operation, the voltage always drops and the computer shuts down. Have BIOS 5.7 set at default settings with memory timings at most conservative settings
I dont know what this 3.3V reading is for -- for the battery? or for PCI bus voltage or for DRAM. PLease help
And also could it be a problem with my power supply? Like a shortage in the current? I have Ahtlon 1600+ and GeForce 4 4200 and 300W generic power supply.
Thanx.
