I am attempting to troubleshoot a system that a friend just finished building talking to him over the phone, which makes things difficult. The system uses a MSI KT333 Ultra 2 mobo and a 350w Sparkle Power (shouldn't be the problem). The problem with the system is that attempting to shut down the computer from XP doesn't actually shut it off but makes it go into some sort of suspend mode where there is nothing displayed on the monitor, but the system keeps beeping a series of 3 beeps. The same result happens when you hold down the power switch. Other than that, the system works fine. I had him disable all Suspend and power-saving schemes in the BIOS and in XP. Has anyone ever had this problem? What wrong place would you hafta connect the power switch to get this behavior? Any ideas?
