Check out this nugget I just read....

Support for a 166 MHz FSB: The KT3Ultra2 is the only KT333-based motherboard design to offer support for AMD?s new, higher, front-side bus speed. This is a feature that makes the Ultra2-BR potentially very attractive to the upgrade-conscious.

A couple a questions for you well connected members out there ;)

1. Is this actually true? A tour of MSI's site showed all KT3 Ultra2 board specs(normal, -R, -BR) only say they support 100Mhz and 133Mhz not the 166 necessary for 333 FSB action.

2. If this IS true, do all the Ultra2 boards have this feature, or only the recently released -BR.

On a side note, according to the review the quote is taken from, the -BR supports fully populated DDR333 in all memory slots at aggressive timings. I've only seen that from KT400 boards.

1. Yes. According to MSI it does. Check the CPU compatibility chart.

2. All Ultra 2 do this according to MSI.

Interesting.

Does this mean that the chip itself is supported or that it will actually run at 333Mhz FSB.

I wonder why there other specs only say 100/133 or 200/266....oh well. Thanks for the reply!

I hope it supports it...I have one of those boards and I'm getting a 2700+ when they hit the streets in the spring of 2009.

Nothing like asking a question and having it answered via a web update! No wonder their server was unavailable for a few minutes!

Here's the lowdown

1. It definitely DOES support the Athlon 2700+ according to this link here.
This was the link that Iron Woode was referring to.

2. The newest boards support 166Mhz FSB Clocks according to the newest product specifications, published
here.

Thanks to all who posted! This just solidifies the KT3 Ultra2 as the mid-range board of choice (especially selling at $81 with free shipping at Googlegear)!
