I just installed my brand new MSI KT3 Ultra2 mobo. When I turned it on, it keeps hanging up at the same place and won't even POST. According to the diagnostic LEDs on the D-Bracket 2, it's hanging up at the "Initializing Hard Drive Controller" stage.

I've tried swapping out multiple hard drives and IDE cables, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions??

There is alot you can try. First off, pull everything out and just boot it up to the bios. You dont need a hard drive to boot to the bios
Just unplug the drive and boot to bios. If it boots into bios then select the default settings on it and apply them. Then reboot. If it doesnt come up again then you probably have a problem with the controller on that board. RMA baby. The only thing you should have plugged into the mobo is the cpu and heatsink. That is it. It should boot to the bios with nothing else not even ram. Then slowly add pieces back in to see where the fault lies. Hope this helps

Nope, still nothing. It has to be a bad hard drive controller then. Oh well, guess I'll have to RMA it. Just my luck :(

Bummer man. Thats the first of about 8 of those boards I've ever heard of having a problem.

I'm pretty happy with mine (and looking forward to dropping a 2700 processor in it since it will support 166Mhz FSB).
