Hey guys I havent been here in close to 2 years as I rarely have time for computer stuff, even though I still love it.

I think however, that my KT3 Ultra 2 is dying....originally I thought it was the PSU was since the voltages were going but now I feel it is the mobo.

Heres the deal: My system used to be rock stable but over the past month or so I have been getting quite a few annoying random reboots and freezes. (Or the computer monitor turns off and the hdd light goes on and it wont restart by the restart button and I have to resort to yanking out the power cord.) Anyway the voltages as reported by the Mobo were fluctuating much more than they used to - especially the 12V rail. I was planning on getting a new PSU but I was busy and the problems seemed to go away for a few weeks. Now the system went into that monitor off and hdd light on state, and when I tried to turn it back on it stays that way and thats how the system remains now.

Now I did notice something suspicious this time on closer inspection. I have three fans connected through the mobo, the CPU fan and 2 Panaflo Ls and when the computer comes on the CPU fan does (thank god lol) but the panaflos do not. When I take the panaflos off the mobo power they run fine at power up. Also, I noticed that my GPU fan does not come on on system power up again I think pointing to a mobo failure as the PSU supplied plenty of power to run my system before and I think its fine by showing the fans working properly on it when not connected to the mobo.

Luckily I have my laptop to work on for the time being but most of my work is on the desktop so I will be ordering a replacement for what I need today. If a new mobo I'm going to go NForce2 ...probably Asus since this is the third MSI board to have failed on me.. and if a new PSU then Antec or Enermax...maybe get a 2600 Mobile while I'm at it ;)

Quick reponses are appreciated :)

Thanks,
Rob
