Gung-Hey-Fat-Choy Everyone!!! First off, id like to inform u nice folks that jus joined and i enjoy reading the forums and thought i can start being part of it. Anywayz, straight to the point, i know the basics of overclocking and certain requirements. In my current system, i have an 1800+ thoroughbred clocked @ 1.82 (145*12.5) = 2200+. However, the highest voltage my MSI KT3 Ultra mb is allowing me is only 1.6volts, and i cannot go any higher than that. I flashed and updated the bios and it still will not go any higher then 1.6. I know that my cpu is capable of a higher clock than 1.82 but i know i need more voltage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx again, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Keep ram timings to the least and lowest speed....Lock agp/pci bus if you can...

Those 2 things need to be done to effectively isolate the cpu so we can identify if the cpu is hitting a wall...

As I have mentioned numerous times when a cpu hit a vcore wall like this with so much obvious room compared to reports of others ocing I would look at my power supply...

Please report all voltages....ie vcore, +3.3v, +5v, and +12v...then run prime95 or some other extremely taxing or loading program and record the voltages again. What we are looking for are spikes or severe swings or drops in any of those rails...With the athlon it usually more specific to the 3.3 and 5v rails....

If it wont post it may be a motherboard limitation. Ie look at those ram settnigs and pci locking for that....Any BSOD???

Welcome to the forums :D

One of the issues you have to remember on the KT3 Ultra, the 1/5 divider doesn't kick in until you hit 166mhz FSB. So right now, you're at around 36.25 PCI bus, which I bet is hindering your overclocking. Try setting the FSB to 166 and see if you can get into Windows or be stable at that speed. Depending on wheter or not ur Tbred is an A or B, and if you have adequate cooling, it may be able to scale that high.

Edit: Btw, I once owned the KT3 Ultra, and my chips hit the wall at around 145 with it, regardless of the CPU. Which is why I switched now to Epox, Abit, and Asus for overclocking. Once I got the Abit, took my chip to 158mzh FSB and set it at 1/5 PCI divider (with a 1700+ Palomino mind, pretty nice overclock for back in the day). Ahh, the memories.
