I'm setting up a system running a socket 754 Athlon 64 3200 on a MSI K8T Neo-FSR motherboard. I enabled Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS and I have MSI's Core Center installed. I can see in the Core Center's hardware monitor that Cool'n'Quiet is throttling the CPU back, but I thought that it would also slow down the CPU fan. Instead, the CPU fan seems to always be at the max 3245 rpm, even though the CPU temp is only 29 deg C.

I can manually lower the CPU fan speed down as low as 2376 rpm through the Core Center control panel, but I thought that this would be done automatically, depending on the temperature of the CPU. Am I wrong about the fan speed being varied by Cool'n'Quiet, or am I overlooking something?

Thanks for any help.

(PS: I downloaded and installed the CPU driver for the Athlon 64 for AMD's website, I installed the latest version of Core Center from MSI, and I set my power scheme in windows to Minimal Power Management.)
