I just received my MSI K8N neo4 Platnum. It really give me a hard time. I met
two issues: memory and keyboard.
I installed two PC-4000 256MB KNGMX (MPTC22D-2K) DDR memory on memory slot
2 and 4 (which are the ones farest away from CPU). I called
the memory slot 1 which is nearest to CPU. I got black screen although the
cpu fan was running. I thought maybe the kingmax memory is not compatible to
this board. So, I installed one 256M patriot pc3200 on memory slot 4. The same
black screen. I thought maybe the slot 4 does not work and changed it to slot
3. Thanks god, the system booted up. I reinstalled two PC-4000 256MB KNGMX
on slot 1 and 3 and the system worked fine. However, the memorys only worked under
single channel mode!!!!. If I changed to slot 2 and 4, the system can not boot and alway
show me black screen.
Ok, at least I can get the compute to work under single channel. however,
My nightmare has not ended. After a regular restarting the computer, the computer just
hangs on the starting picture ( the one show the word "Platnum") and can not
entered in the hard-drive, processor and memory checking. After clear up the bios
and restart for severl time, the computer can normal boot up, but once you
restarts the computer, it will definitely hang on. I do not know what's going
on with this motherboard.
I am using Asus A8V rev2.0 and have tried FOXCONN NF4UK8AA-8EKRS. Both of them work
perfect with kingmax or patriot and other components and boot up at first time.
It seems lots of people like MSI becasue of its super ocing ablitity. For me,
I can not even let it work under stock frequency.
Can someone help me? Many thanks in advance.
