From what I can tell, in order to run dual-channel on one of these, you have to put the RAM in slots 1-2 or 3-4. That must be murder on the heat production from the RAM, especially if it's overclocked or overvolted.

Can anyone give me a real-world account of how much difference it really makes? That was the ONE thing that turned me off from this mobo.

I use an 120mm fan on my cpu which cools the ram to. That is my sugestion.
