I am going to buy a 939 system with a 3500+ and 1 GB of memory.
I am going to be getting a 20 pin Antec Tru430.
**Not planning on overclocking.

Which is the better Motherboard? The MSI K8N Neo4 or the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra?

The Chaintech is cheaper, but has less goodies.
Opposite for the MSI.

I kind of care about the firewire because the case I am going to get would have firewire on the top of the case, but I don't want to drop 40 bucks for a different motherboard for just that.

I have read both threads, and both boards seem to have their problems.

The MS seems to have a loud fan running at 7500rpm, nad other assorted problems
The Chaintech doesn't have any manual...etc.

Overall, which is the better card for a non-overclocking person such as myself.

**EDIT: I am not closed to suggestions for different boards. These two just seemed to stand out.

The Chaintech does have a manual, only the first batch of them came without one (it wasn't ready, the Chaintech was the first nF4 Ultra to be available in the US).

If you want firewire and a low price the Soltek SL-K890Pro-939 and Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS should also be considered. The Foxconn is not an overclocker though.

The Chaintech board. I have had mine since X-mas, and it is Rock-Solid, fast at stock, very easy to setup (and they DO send a manual with them now), and a very good performer overall. It all comes down to the goodie bags and the chipset cooler with each tho I think. If you want the extras with the MSI board, and do not mind the active chipset cooler, then get it. If you want a board with less goodies, and passive cooling get the Chaintech.

Yes, but only if you plan on overclocking it fairly high. There is NO chance of the board cooking itself at stock, but X-bit labs reviewer's cooked thier review sample at a high overclock (315HTT if I remember correctly). At stock, it does just fine.
