I just installed this motherboard & am using the on-board Realtek AC'97 sound thru my 6.1 Altec Lansing spkrs. Now I am getting annoying buzzing, thumping & pulsating sounds thru all the spkrs that I can't stop. I've tried everything I can think of...Muting all inputs, checking the cables and plugs, upgrading drivers. The noise is audible thru headphones plugged directly into the MB audio outputs (so it's not the spkrs at fault)

For example, a high-pitch buzzing occurs when I move the mouse, a lower freq buzz when my Firefox browser is open...It appears to make different noises related to PC/CPU activity. If I close all apps, it's pretty quiet. Somehow the busier the PC is, the more noise it makes. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

There's a possibility it could be line interference from the power source. Plug a set of headphones into the output jack and see if you get the same result. If you do, it's most likely a MB issue. RMA time. If it's the speakers, you could try a different set.

Keep us posted,

I did try plugging the headphones into the output. Noise is still there.

I was planning to eventually upgrade to a Creative soundcard. Perhaps that is the solution sooner than later.
