I think my MOBO may have failed. Machine is in continuous reboot. Recovery Console launched from XP install CD fails to a Bad_Pool_Header BSOD. Cannot get into Windows to save my life. Please see my post over in the Technical Support forum for ALOT more detail: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=32&threadid=1905832&enterthread=y

Let's suppose my MOBO has failed...
My rig is 15 months old and based on my rig specs below, should I just get a similar MOBO to replace it or should I consider getting a MOBO for the 'future' that has more ability for me to upgrade??

I am definitely not the MOBO expert so I'd love some advice.

My rig specs:
AMD Athlon64 3200+ Socket 939 Winchester
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
Corsair XMS 3200XL Platinum 400 MHz 2x512
Sapphire Radeon X800XL
Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1
Sony DVD-ROM DDU1615
NEC DVD-R DL ND3250A

This is a non-SLI board...should I go ahead and get the SLI version? Down the road as prices drop, I could find another Sapphire Radeon X800 XL PCIe and go SLI.

Is there a big price difference between the non-SLI and SLI boards?

Please share your thoughts....

Thanks!

SLI is for Nvidia cards only. Maybe RMA the mobo? It should still be under warranty.

RMA but be prepared to deal with the worst customer service ever! I will never spend another cent on an MSI product. Yes, i RMAed the exact same board because of a failed RAID controller. GL.

Interesting...I had no idea that SLI was for Nvidia only.

homercles337....what did you replace your MSI board with? make/model/etc.

Thanks for your help!
