System:
AMD Athlon 64 Winchester 3000+ 1GHz FSB 1800MHz
MSI K8N Neo4-F nForce 4
1024 MB of Corsair PC 3200 DDR (Value Select)

I recently built a system (and my first one at that, aka im a noob at this stuff) with the preceeding specs. I was looking around about my motherboard and noticed that it's had some issues with configuring Dual-Channel RAM. I couldnt quite find a real answer as how to implement it. Also I dont know enough about configuring BIOS to even know if it is enable or not enabled currently. I do have the RAM chips slotted in the correct spots (in slot 1 and 3). While i dont necessarily see any bad performance out of my rig, I definately want to get optimal performance.

Can anyone offer any advice or knowledge on this subject? or possibly what would be the best way to optimize my performance out of my RAM as i know near to nothing about the subject?

Thanks

is your 1024 MB of RAM in one stick or two? for dual channel RAM, you need pairs, or 2x512MB.

next, you have to install it in the proper slots in that motherboard. check the manual. For double sided RAM, you have to put the sticks into the first two slots.

after that, when you reboot, you should see something like:

AMD Athlon 64 blah blah blah (CPU info)
DDR400 Mhz RAM Dual-Channel

alternatively, you can grab CPU-Z (freeware program, google it) and it will also show you memory information. i don't think you need to set anything up in BIOS for it to work.

um i actually just checked and on boot-up i get Single-Channel at 167Mhz
however, it still says in my BIOS that it is 1028 Mb (or whatever in KB) under system infromation
