MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum power issue

I recently purchased the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum with Athlon64 3500+(90nm). I already had a Antec Sonata case w/ True380S PSU. The install went smooth and it managed to boot on first try and allowed me to install WXP. I finished setting up XP that night and went to bed. The next day I went to go turn it on and when I pressed the power button the power led lit-up for a second and went out. I took side cover off case and observed what was happening when I pressed the power button. The fans would start to spin up and the led's on memory would flash--then it would just die. I thought my power supply had gone bad, so I swapped it with a 550w Vantec stealth PSU I have in my server. As I expected, everything fired right up. I then got online and ordered a new PSU from zipzoomfly.com. I decided on a 480w Antec Neo PSU. Well, today when I got home from work I installed the new PSU and to my disappointed it did the same thing the other Antec PSU did. This leads me to believe their is a issue with this board and Antec power supplies. Has anyone else had similar problems with this board and Antec PSU? And what 939 board would you recommended as an alternative?

Thank you!

I have the exact same problem and I also have an Antec case. I believe this board is defective, seen this before. On mine I also get serious Windows errors, BIOS settings vanish....definitely defective board. Had this happen before with another board.

OMG!

*waits for all the Antec zealots to have a flamefest on Tweaktown

Personally I have a Antec TruePower 480 and it works just fine with Neo2. I also have a Thermaltake SP 480, and after realizing my problems were memory related and not PSU related, I've had no problems with.

The MSI has a problem with its USB headers, it evidently has a hot 5V pin where most boards would have a ground pin. Compare the Sonata's front-USB plug to the MSI's rear-USB-plate plug, see a difference?

(or even if you don't see a difference. Unplug the Sonata's front-USB from the MSI and see what happens)
