Hey everyoen and Merry Christmas. I am having a coupel problems with my new setup. I just upgrade to a AMD 64 3500 New Castle with a MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum w/ Bios 1.3 and a single Maxtor Diamond 9 SATA. when I have the SATA hard install if freezes on bootup and is not identified. in fact s says boot disk failure. I read and saw that Bios 1.4 fix SATA to be dected on boot up. but I can seem to Flash the bios on this board to 1.4. I downloaded the BIOS andn followed the instructions. as follows

steps:
1. creat a directo called "test" with all the bios files
2. create a system boot disk
3. Boot to system disk
4. flash from the c:

Problem:
Once I am in the command prompt, I can't type "c:" is says invalid drive letter

I am using my original IDE drive whihc boots up fine to windows XP. but once I boot to floppy then it is not recognized. PLEASE someone help me.

not sure here, but I know with some programs dos creates a virtual drive, so all you drive letters are off by 1. try d: drive and see what you come up with.

Create a MSDOS startup disk.
If you have enough room put both Awfl833d.exe and the Bios on the disk, otherwise put them on another floppy. Boot off the floppy, type Awfl833d.exe and follow the prompts to type in the new BIOS name.

CAMS, yours works. thats what I just did. just for you other guys who replied. I had it on SATA 1 and I tried all letters, I mean all 26 of them. just to make sure. but putting the bios and the system disk files on one disk work perfectly. Thanks. now I have other issues now LOL
