MSI K8N Neo2 or Neo4 ?? Is AGP at the end of the road?

I'm buying a new motherboard at the moment for an Athlon X2 and have decided to go with an MSI K8N Neo? Platinum. I was wondering whether to go for a Neo2 or Neo4 ? I don't have much invested in my current AGP video card (Geforce 5200) so buying a low-end PCI-E card is no big deal since I'm a business software developer and not a gamer. Is AGP now at the end of the road? What use might those PCI-E 1x slots be in the future?
