LMK
thanks

This is what I have read.

You can only run 4 512 DIMM's in 2T. Probally not worth the extra memory, trade em and get 2 1GB DIMMS's

It definitley works with 4 sticks, but it does require 2T. But.....all S939 MB's require 2T with 4 sticks of RAM, and it has been shown that 2T is a very small performance hit.

If you have a Winchester or Newcastle core though, you will also default to DDR333, which is a bigger performance hit. Of course you can always just OC it back to DDR400.

I disagree that 2T is a small performance hit, I consider it to be a large performance hit.

I agree completely.

My benchies/SuperPi/etc. are all much better with 212mhz 2.5,3.3.6 1T than with 227mhz 2.5,3,3,6 2T.

shaves over HALF A SECOND off my SuperPi 1M using 1T at lower RAM speed.

Sandra using 2T - RAM Bandwidth Int Buff?d ISSE2 ? 5113 MB/s
Sandra using 1T - RAM Bandwidth Int Buff?d ISSE2 ? 6386 MB/s

PCMark05 memory bench using 2T ? Score: 4112
PCMark05 memory bench using 1T - Score: 4574

Ran it on my system. Ultimately I dont think that adding a GB of RAM would be worth the money, it may help very few applications but your system will run slower in most apps.

My cousin says that yes, in benchmark it shows smaller number, but in everyday's use, he saw not really a difference, if it is that now, the computer doesn't seem to use the HDD as much, and that is speeding the system. Even at 2T, memory will still be faster than virtual RAM...

RAM will always be faster then virtual memory, even if its PC100!. I dont know what grade your cousin is in, but I can tell a major difference using 2T, my machine boots up a lot slower and my programs load slower.
