I know many of you would find it blastphemous to run slower memory than a motherboard can handle. But my situation is that I'm not terribly concerned about having the fastest memory on a new system I need to build, and I have several sticks of PC2100 sitting around.

I know that the new MSI K8N Neo Platinum Athlon 64 Socket 754 motherboard can run with DDR400, PC3200, but I'd like to know if it is able to run without problem with my old PC2100 memory?

Thanks for the help,

Randy

I have this board. I have not tried slower RAM, but there is indeed an option in the BIOS to select a slower maximum memory speed. The memory bus can be downclocked from its usual 200Mhz to 166Mhz (DDR333) or 133Mhz (DDR266). No guarantees, but the latter is the speed at which PC2100 RAM is meant to run. Good luck.

MSI also advertises that this board supports DDR266 on their website.
