I've been having problems with the audio quality with this board. It seems that no matter what I try I cannot get rid of the static.

I have tried installing the AC 97 drivers but this didn't help. I just today went out and bought a new sound card - Santa Cruz Turtle Beach 5.1 - hoping this would solve the problem. It did not.

I know it's not my headphones (Sennheiser HD580s) or the connection to the audio card.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have a MSI K8N Neo2, and I have a set of HD535s, and I was wrestling with the same static problems. Here are a couple of things to try:

Download CBID from http://cbid.amdclub.ru/ and run it. Click on Mobility and set "HALT State" to disabled.

If that does not work, go in the BIOS, make sure your HT is not over 215Mhz or so, and turn on Spread Spectrum.

The HALT state gets rid of bus noise static. I can heard it only if I move my mouse or is transferring a file. There is still a much lower noise, and that is just low SNR on the part of the onboard sound. With volume set this low, bad SNR gets noticed fast.
My personal setup actually does neither. I got a pair of Yamaha YST-MS50 computer speakers that has an amplified headphone jack. I turn the volume in NvMixer up fairly high, and turn the speaker volume down to get a good volume, and the noise is no longer perceptable since the volume is software turned up.

Thanks for the advice, but it appears neither suggestion worked.

I'll keep messing around with settings/drivers and see if I can make a miracle happen.
