MSI K7TPro2-A Extra USB ports not functioning

Bought a little "back panel" USB connector cable from Multiwave direct to attach to my USB port. Has the same 10 pin (5x2) configuration as the connector on the Mobo -- BIOS has USB enabled. No device plugged in gets recognized by windows, and my Sandisk SmartMedia reader's power lights don't go on... any jumpers I've missed or something?

I have the same usb problem with both the MSI K7T Pro-2A and the MSI MS-6337 (815E Pro) using the same usb connectors from multiwave.

Does anyone know how to "activate" this extra USB header on the motherboard?

I had no problems with the extra usb header on an Abit KT7-Raid board.

Not sure if this still applies to current motherboards or not, but I remember having to switch the pins around on an older Asus board, some were reversed to get the USB adapter to work. I would check the pin-outs on the adapter, and compare them to the pin assignments on the motherboard. Just wanted to make clear, I modified the cable, pins, not the motherboard pins.

You have to check that the pins are 'reversed' in order. Make sure that Pin 1 lines up with the arrow on the connector. And make sure that Pin 10 lines up with Pin 1 on the second connector.
Pin 1= VCC, Pin 3 = USBD3-, Pin 5 = USBD3+, Pin 7 = GND, Pin 9 = GND.
This is for one connector.
Pin 10 = VCC ect.... ending up with Pin 4 & 2 being ground.
