I had this mobo and video card together a while back and I have since traded both. Unfortunatly the fellow I traded for a GF3 is having problems with this.

Does anyone know what you have to do in BIOS to fix it? It will not work(he used the card in another mobo and its fine) and I remember calling a tech support guy and he told me what it was but I forgot. I want to help my bud out....
Thanks guys. Good night.

*Sorry for posting this here and video but this forum gets more action and its a mobo problem more than a video.*

Do you mean it does not even boot at all? I'm interested in learning the possible solution to this problem. I'll be receiving the same motherboard next week and was planning on using it with my Radeon 64MB DDR video card.

When I first used my Radeon on MSI 694D, it does not want to boot. I had to play around the seating of the video card. I made minor adjustment to the mounting of the motherboard. Somehow not all the pins are making contacts. I seems the Radeon video card is a little loose on the AGP slot.

At first I thought the card was malfunctioning so I put in another AGP card and it just boot without a problem. I tested the Radeon on my other motherboard - Tyan Tiger 100 and it works great. But if I use the Radeon card on my MSI motherboard, no boot. I compared the thickness of the two cards and it seems that the Radeon card is thinner and the contact points are shorter.

I adjusted the mounting of the motherboard by placing 2 washers between the board & the motherboard posts. It works!

is0s, if you could, describe "no boot". Do you mean the fans/hd/led all go on but no signal goes to the monitor?

I can anwser this, considering I'm the one that got his Radeon in trade.

But yes, it won't boot at all. I get three or more random d-led messages when turning on power.

Here's a snipet of my post from msihardware.com

Ok here's my best try at explaining my problems.
Up until yesterday I was running the following system.

1.3ghz @ 1.6ghz
K7T266 Pro-R
(2)256mb Crucial @ CAS 2 w/ 4way inter. enabled & 1T enabled.
Visiontek GF3
SB Live Value
3Com 3C905B NIC
2-WD 10GB 5400 in Raid 0
1-IBM 75GB 75GXP
1-TDK 12/10/32 CD-RW

So today I get my Radeon and I just can't wait to get it installed and start capturing these movies.

So I shut the machine down, and reset the bios. I turn it off, and remove the GF3.
After installing the Radeon whenever I try to boot I get random d-led messages, anything ranging from "Initalizing Video Interface" or "Testing VGA Bios" and "System Power On"

I contine to get these d-led messages no matter what the bios settings are set at, no matter what hardware is in the computer, and no matter what bios I'm using. I flashed to the latest 1.3 and it still didn't matter.
But no matter what I would do, I couldn't get any type of display with this video card.

Now here is the kicker, this card works fine. I tested it out in a machine at work, and in a K7T Pro-2a I have here at home.

That's exactly what was happening to me. No beep error, all fans & front lights will go and the diagnostic led will not complete to all green. No other card is present when this is happening.

JoeDADDY, you said you have sound blaster live in that system. Have you tried removing the sound card?

What I think it is and correct me if I am wrong is with the via 4 in 1 drivers set the AGP to "standard" not "Turbo".
Thats what I remember fixed it but it has been some time ago....:)

Yes, I've tried it with only the vid card in there, and the same thing happens. I'm going to try what CKY said this evening and I'll see if that fixes it.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Thanks again

Anyone tried asking at Rage Underground? That seems to be the place for ATI gurus. Maybe it's a known problem?

I love my Radeon, but I wish it would work with more stuff (Win2000? not sure if that's been fixed).

Did you try resetting system in BIOS to reconfigure on bootup? This sometimes will allow your bios to reconfigure correctly for the problem device.

Look for "Reset Configuration Data" under PNP/PCI Configuration Setup in BIOS.... change it to "ENABLE", or "ON", etc..

Make sure that you have not bent/broken a PIN off on your monitor cable (this could cause the card to not work on YOUR system). Make sure that the problem is not with the monitor cable.

Let us know if either of these worked.

You might also try to start with a clean Windows install (perhaps on a different drive if you don't want to replace your current OS files on your start drive.

I just checked the monitor cable and it is fine. I'm using the monitor now, I had to install an agp all in wonder til I get this radeon issue sorted out.

Do you think the OS would play a part in this considering that w/ the Radeon inserted I can't even get a BIOS bootup screen?

Thanks for the idea's I'm off to muddle thru the bios some more.

Hell no I didn't MSI is worthless, you can't even call and talk with someone. They have this stupid message on their website about they are having problems w/ their phones and you might not be able to talk with a tech support person. And it is a long distance call. So they say send an email. I've sent 3 since last saturday and none of them have been anwsered.

Freakin bastards
