MSI K7T266 and Hercules 4500 INCOMPATIBLE!

Unless you know different...

No-one reports having this combination and getting them to work together.
You have to know that I waited for the Kyro release, thinking that it would be great from all the reviews. Imagine my disappointment. I tell you I spent a lot of time trying getting them to work together, including e-mails and telephone calls to different helpdesks.

MSI were hopeless.
Hercules tried but failed.
Overclockers.co.uk just checked the board and sent it back to me. (They have been good enough to say that they will not charge the 15% restock fee.)

I still find it amazing that there is no solution.

thanks for the suggestions,

I have tried different BIOS
and 1X, 2X, 4X, Auto

I would be very intertested in hearing from anyone who has this working.

Well, good luck. I havent used the KyroII with the KT266, but the K7T266 took everything I throwned at it so far.

Reading throughout the web, it seems there have been a lot of incompatabilities with the KyroII.🙁 I personally tried one out, but was actually disappointed also.....I was truely hoping for a low cost/high performing card for my builds but most of the people I'm building for lately seem to want a Geforce based card. They ask what's the best performer without spending all the money on a GF3......I was hoping KyroII would be it, but, overall the GTS, Pro, & Ultra still outperform it. Come on RadeonII & KyroIII........thing is, by then we'll have a GF3 Ultra and GF4 soon after that. Seems nVidia is in position to be "top dog" for as long as they can push these things out on the same time table they have been..........

I agree, a GF2 Pro can be found for about $30 more than the KyroII, and offers better/similar performance in almost all cases, plus the Win2K support from nVidia is much better, so I still think nVidia has some good performance/price products out there.

Did you try disabling all video shadowing & disable system bios cacheable, also make sure you have "assign IRQ to VGA " enabled?

yes tried that too
and did take the 'puter too the repair shop when my efforts did not work, they could get other cards to work in the AGP slot but not the 4500

What kind of problem exactly? Is it not posting, not finishing Windows bootup, or freezing randomly?

What did Hercules tell you?

Did you try a different card(I don't mean a different brand)? Maybe that particular card is defective. What is your i/o voltage set at? How much memory are you using and how many sticks of memory. Can you get into your computer bios with the card?

I have been using the 4500 for a month now, no problems at all with it.

I have the RAID version of the same board. Everytime I try to change anything with my soundblaster card it decides to crash. My AIW Radeon does NOT work properly either. I'm gonna throw it up on egay here soon. Perhaps it works better with different multimedia devices, but just a warning. Im lookin at the iwill board as an alternative. The Ali chipset shouldn't have as many problems so I've been told.
