Ok, so i had this Athlon 750 setup with the board and everything was working great until i looked at it this afternoon (hadn't looked since it was working great last nite) & saw an ERROR CODE 000006 (i think) on what looked like a DOS Screen, even though im running Win2k Pro.

So i rebooted, and nothing happened. I looked at the LEDS & it shows 1011 where 1 is red & 0 is green. i looked in the manual & it says "Memory Detection Test - Testing Onboard Memory Size..."

I have 2x 256mb PC133 Dimms, one is Crucial the other is Generic.

I've tried:
A) Each DIMM ALONE in each slot, same thing
B) Removing everything except for the essentials, same thing

I've cleared the CMOS, tried removing bios battery, still nothing. All the fans run & everything, no strange beep codes, but IT STILL WON"T POST AT ALL :-(

Sounds like the board is taking a dump. Have you tried to boot with no RAM in it whatsoever? Also, if you can beg, borrow or (temporarily) confiscate a different CPU, that would be a good test. The error codes sometimes are unrelated to the actual problem is why I suggest that. Also the fact that it said "onboard" memory size. Other than those two items, I'm at a loss as to what you can do. Have you tried to see if it will boot to a floppy (like a win98 boot disk)? That might help narrow it down a bit also. I wish you luck.

Ok, then do this; try another boot and this time write down EXACTLY what the error code says, word for word. Oops, that is assuming you still get the error and I don't think you are anymore. LMK anyway. The fact that you don't have any "strange beep codes" is slightly encouraging; sort of. We know it is either the CPU or the MB most likely. Do you hear the HD spin up at all?

see, that's just the problem, the darned thing doesn't even POST, i can't get to the error message again! the CPU was just RMA'd from AMD and has a retail HSF and has never been oc'd. I can't imagine it's the CPU cuz i haven't touched it, and it was working fine. I've contacted MSI so we'll see what they have to say, cuz i've given up with it, i have NO CLUE what it could be if it's not the board. (if you have anymore advice, please do)

Well, the fact that the CPU was working fine really doesn't mean anything; the board was working fine too, wasn't it? But, that really doesn't matter. What is important is getting it straight. Are you able to hear the HD spin up at all? I guess what I'm getting at is that, if you have no error/beep codes taking place AND you can hear the HD spin up, there's a very slight chance it is the video card. However, that is a real shot in the dark. Do you hear at least the one, expected beep/post code? From what you say, most likely not. If you do, it could be the video card. If not, we are back to the MB and I have no other tricks or hoops to jump through. Sorry. :(
