Ok, so I'm feeble. But please be patient and try to help a poor ignorant fool. Problems are:

1. Hard drive scored 2000 in Sandra (anything to do with Promise U100 controller(PDC20265) which has a ! in system properties with 'this device is either not present, not working properly or does not have all the drivers installed' ?

2. Memory (infineon 256sdrpc133 cas3) scoring similar to kt133 with pc100cas2 also in Sandra.

3. Onboard sound is extremely low vol, same as when tested with separate SB128 card.

I have tried to update and reinstall the Promise driver, seems its already the latest 1.6 Build 19.

With the memory I tried various settings like SPD, cas2, pc100, but didn't help.

The sound, I've tried reinstalling drivers, checked spkrs, vol settings(mixer etc) disabled/enabled the onboard sound/soundblaster emulation, checked irqs, had the same problem with Asus A7V, only option was to buy another soundcard, but I hope I don't need to do that. My setup is:

K7T Turbo R
infineon 256 pc133
gforce2 mx
Soundblaster 128 Vibra
Maxtor diamondplus 60 40GB ata100
Pioneer 116 DVD
IBM Lan card

Thanks for any kind of info:D

hi, i think the latest build is 24 for the promise. try to update your bios using overclockers one or 2.5.

Well, you know where to look. It's the controller. I had that ! for a while, you're pretty patient to wait for a 2000 score to show up. I had restarted mine by that point assumins I had frozen it up.

For that drive: Which IDE do you have it plugged into? If it's IDE 3 or 4, did you set it up as a single drive RAID? When you boot, do you see the Promise screen show up at all? Does it give any error messages?

By the way, the newer BIOS's solve some problems, but I think you're looking at driver issues.

As far as the low memory scores...hmm, the best way to boost it is to have two sticks of memory and enable the SPD thing. That is basically 4way interleave. Also, if you're not using RAID, SERIOUSLY consider using the standard IDE. From what most people are saying over in AMDMB, this seems a better route.
