I was looking through old post and noticed alot of you have MSI K7T-Turbos like me. I was wondering if I could get y'all to post your cpu, heatsink, and temps.

1.33Ghz AYHJA :D w/Tt Volcano II :(
case temp 26 (with the side panel off)
idle 51
stressed 59

Obviously theses are too high. What is the good hsf? I'm thinking of getting OCZ Gladiator w/Delta fan for 43.88 shipped. That is the best deal I can find. I need to get a deal on some artic silver too. I would like to buy both from the same place though.

Will a good hsf bring down my case temp too? (Ambient in the room is ~22) What kind of numbers can I expect?

Thanks

check out my rig.

I have currently in my possesion 3 hsf.

WBK w/ a 80 mm 40 cfm fan on it.
Gladiator w/ Delta fan on it.
SK6 w/ 4800 rpm ada fan on it. (not sure of cfm on this one)

my fav is the WBK cause it is soo quiet. the sk6 is quiet also but untill i get better case cooling the sk6 allows my northbridge to get too hot, hence instability.

biggest problem w/ these msi boards is they come w/ passive cooling on northbridge instead of a hsf. i guess i could go out and get a orb or something, but i'm lazy.

w/ the wbk + 80 mm fan, there is enough overflow of air from the fan onto the northbridge hs that it keeps it cool.

hope all of this helps.

oh btw, the reason i don't use the gladiator is that the shroud on the gladiator keeps any of the air from flowing over the northbridge. check out the purpleish shroud on the gladiator it only allows air to go out top and bottom when case is standing upright.

That is some good advice. I am thinking about getting a blue orb or something like that. My gf2 pro comes with a really small fan on the gpu and it would fit perfect on the northbridge.

Can you tell me what kind of temps you are getting with your various hsf?

Also what do you use to report your temp? I downloaded some temp monitors and unlike my bios and pc alert 3 they give all three temp sensors. I think that 26 I gave earlier is the northbridge because one of the sensors reports 21 which is probably right because my room is pretty cool, I have the side panel off the case, and I can feel with my hand in the case the temp isn't much different than room temp.

Trying to get my heat down I even put a table fan right next to my case blowing right on the cpu and northbridge... only made 1 degree difference!

i have a 1.2 266 t-bird running at 1.47 on my msi k7t. I have the volcano II on it, and four case fans, plus another couple in the psu. I run at 51C all the time, stressed, about 55. thats y i decided to switch over to water cooling, check out www.dangerden.com. they have some sweet stuff, i just bought a kit. its hopefully gonna lower my noise and my temps. anyway good luck,
