MSI K7T Turbo Constant Beeping

Hi there.

My machine has started to do this for no apparent reason. Switch the power on and it just beeps incessantly. Machine doesn't POST. I checked th internal diagnostic LEDs and it indicated it was up to the Memory test stage. I swapped the RAM into another machine and it is fine. I tried some other RAM I had in my PC, still beeping. With no RAM in the machine it doesn't beep, but it also doesn't POST. *sigh*

I did a search on this topic and it showed me that DAPUNISHER had made a similiar posting late last year. Unfortunately Google's cache didnt extend so far as to show the thread contents. 🙁

I would really like to hear from anyone who has had the same problem.

Cheers!
Kyle.

P.S. I would've contacted you directly if I could DAPUNISHER, but your email address is not in your profile 😉

Try checking that all cards are seated properly. I had this same problem before as well. In my case it was bad ram. Then it started again later on. It was getting too warm inside the case. I also noticed that my PS was not really good enough so I upgraded it too. Then I added a case fan and a slot fan to evacuate the warm air in the case. Now it works great and cool.

I also upgraded to the BIOS too.

Its also possible that something has died on the board. Maybe you can RMA it?

My bad kylgarmor! I don't usually post my E-mail because I hate SPAM 😉Although I haven't had the problem, I have posted to several threads pertaining to your issue since joining AT. Since you've already confirmed that your ram is good, I'm willing to bet that the beeps are short and repeating E.G. beep-beep-beep... as opposed to beeep-beeep-beeep... What that error is telling you is that your power supply has a problem(as long as it's a popular version of Award bios anyways) also the fact that the system has worked well for a prolonged period and the problem was not proceeded by any tweaking, upgrades, ect. on your part points to the power supply as well. . The best way to confirm this is to switch power supplies with the system you used to test the ram in. BTW, when posting an issue please provide your system specs including power supply brand, wattage, and if possible model number as it expedites getting helpful replies. I'm 90% certain your power supply is failing but should the problem persist when using another power supply that's rated for your CPU then suspect the MOBO as the culprit. Post back and let us know how your getting on m8 🙂

Thanks for replying DAPUNISHER. And yes I understand the reason for not putting up your email address 😉

You are correct in your assumption about the beeps. They are short beeps about 3-4 per second from memory.

I'm at work at the moment so cant check up on the power supply spec. I did replace my original one with a higher wattage one on the reccomendation of a PC technician. I had a high RPM CPU fan connected up to my motherboard and it killed the header. 🙁 He took a look at the PSU I had installed and reccemended an upgrade. (Pissed me off though because it was his store that sold me the original.) So from memory I am running a 400w PSU that was on the AMD reccomended list. Won't be able to check that until later today.

When I have further info, I will post again.

Cheers!
