Prepare to be dissapointed. =/

Its been up on the MSI German sight for about a week, its basically the 2.4 bios with some memory tweaks I beleive. You can only have multipliers higher than your cpu, my 1200, I can only access 12, 13, 14, 15 multipliers. Thats it.

The MSI tech assures me this will provide FSB adjustments down to 5x, in addition to correcting the INTA promise controller issue, and better voltage adjustment. In addition, of course, to many other fixes (so they say).

I am assuming K7T Turbo (RAID or non) only. I'll report this evening how the flash goes.. Is there somewhere I can post the file? I'm happy to spread the love..

this is of supreme interest to me.

I've had a few MSI boards, and loved 'em. the 2 issues I have with the Turbo are the multiplier problem and the poor scores due to memory being slow

PLEASE give some sandra and some multiplier results. thx.

Will do, by the way, if you toggle the SPD enable in the Advanced Chipset menu you will see the memory scores go up. That is how you enable 4-way interleave.

Can you please e-mail me this 2.5 non beta bios. I have a broadband connection and don't mind sending it to other people too, if requested. The point is that I tried the 2.5 from the German MSI mirror and wasn't happy with it... As mentioned above, it only reduces the nr. of multipliers and the memory scores too :((( I think stability improved somehow but at the expense of performance.

Yeah, please post. I'm hoping the bios they gave you is different than the one on Germany's website.

Bad news :frown:

Multipliers after the flash were 10.0 on up in .5 increments. I have a 1gig processor. 10.0 multiplier resulted in 1000mhz, 10.5 resulted in 650mhz? So it appears things are still fuggered, and low multipliers are still not available. In addition to this disappointment a) the 20 second (timed it, its exact) pause after IDE scan is still there and b) I am now getting a BSOD: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE on attempting to boot into Win2K. The Promise controller is initializing and accessible, so I haven't a clue.

Gonna hit the hay and rest for tonight, save up energy for MSI's early mornin ass chewing. Apologies for the false hope. :confused:

Has anyone tried the overclocker bios to get the lower multipliers? I'm using the overclockers bios, have the lower multipliers, and the multipliers are correct (7*133 = 933 and 7.5*133 = 1000) but I have a Duron 750. I wonder if it's a T-bird problem?

I flashed the verdamned beta bios this morning and played with the multipliers. My results follow, and we must conclude: this board has multiplier ISSUES!!!

5x = wouldnt post, multiple resets set me back to default
5.5x = 550mhz
6x = 600mhz
6.5x = 650mhz
7x = 700mhz
7.5x = 750mhz
8x = 1200mhz ?!?!?
Stopped here, was afraid of higher multipliers..

Will be talking with MSI soon..

I haven't messed around with the 2.5 bios, but I can tell you that the Overclockers Bios 1.0v16 works very well on my machine. I'm running my 850mhz tbird at 1000 (133x7.5) no problems at all. I also switched to SPD memory and my scores are great. ~540/625. The only issue I have at all with this bios is the voltage misread issue. It is ~0.15v off. I set the voltage for 1.625 and I get 1.775. As long as you set the voltage 0.15v lower than you want it should come out just about right.

One more thing. I've been running this bios for about a week now and I have not had a single crash, lockup, or anomolies what so ever. Which is awesome since I've been doing a lot of Quake3, etc testing.

Has anyone found the actual 8X multiplier? 8x results in 12x for me, 8.5x results in 12.5x etc.. I am afraid to try the 9x or >10x multipliers for fear of torching my cpu.

Rback.
My turbo w/v2.2 was like that.
x8 was the lowest, and it posted as 1200mhz, but if I chose x8.5 would post 850mhz. My cpu was 1gig unlocked tbird. You could go ahead and try other numbers, it won't fry your cpu.

RBuck,

On my Turbo-R with a 750 T-Bird all works fine multiplier wise until I hit 8x as well. But for me when I set it to 8x mine will simply stay at 7.5x. Not sure why the difference. I have mine running fine at 7.5X133 in Win98 but can only do 7X133 in Win2K.

Yes, but I want to run 8x133, so what is the actual 8x multiplier? It appears the multipliers are jumbled, so has anyone found the actual 8x?

I don't know about the 8, but I can tell you that 10 * 100 = 1000. I have the x016 BIOS flashed, and it runs at 1000 every time. Give it a shot and work your way down maybe? Could it be an issue with an L1 not connected?

Holy cow, I can't get past 7*120 on my 1.0 TBird (10 * 110 works though). Obviously I'm victim of the temporary default multiplier at boot up.

What did you do to overcome it? Close the L7's to crank the boot voltage, or did you selectively paste and cut the L3, L4, and L6's to make the multiplier default lower? Or something else?

Once I get Windows working exactly how I want it, that'll be next for me.
