I've got a question that I hope someone can help with. A while back my MSI K7T Pro2A died on me. Now a friend of mine is having the same problem w/ his. PC doesn't POST and he gets RED RED RED GREEN on the DLED. I checked the manual and unfortunately it doesn't say which LED is PIN 1. So...it's either "Early chipset initialization" or "Initializing Video Interface". Does anyone know if PIN 1 is the LED closest to the mobo or the one farthest away? If it may be his video card then I can pull mine and take it over to his place. I'd hate to go through that hassle if I don't have to. Any ideas?

Your K7T Pro2A as well as your friend's are both most likely dead. The work for 6 - 12 months and then stop.

Even though I am not a reseller, MSI acknowledged the problem with this particular board and replaced mine (with another used K7T Pro2A but it did work).

MSI TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Phone: (626) 581 3001
Fax: (626) 581 7721
Operation Hours:
Mon-Thur 7:30AM-5:30PM (PST)
Friday 9:00AM-4:00PM (PST)

Call Tech Support directly (not customer service and ignore the RMA info on their website).

My replacement arrived within a week.

Hope this helps!!

Milehigh: Thanks for the info! I figured he was probably SOL but figured it wouldn't hurt trying another video card if that was the case. We both purchased ours from Monarch Computer last December and mine died in August. The board is still under warranty with Monarch, however, if we can get a replacement directly from MSI I'll have him go that route. My RMA experience with Monarch was an absolute nightmare and took over a month.

I'll second the board being dead. I bought almost exactly last year at the same time as a friend, and they are both dead for months now. No board has sucked harder than the MSI Pro2A.

If it is still under warranty from Monarch try to do it through them. A few people have actually gotten a DIFFERENT NEW board. Mine I got from MSI was the SAME model and USED.

Might be worth the wait!!

Good luck!

red red red green - means--memorry detection error..
reseat your ram properly and it will boot just fine--i run into the same probs and the mobo keep beeping drove me nuts
this was caused by flakey ram slots

Hopefully you are right and that is all it is BUT if you search the MSI website as well as this these forums here and others you will see this pattern of this board running fine and then quitting all of a sudden after several months. MSI Technical Support acknowledged a bad voltage regulator on the board when I spoke with them.

On the two bad boards I came across the LED output varied between CPU initialization and one or two others that I don't remember because I don't have the manual in front of me.

this board is POS--i have to enable spread spectrum to get this board stable at stock speed.
But as for that "red red red green" thingy--it was coz the ram was not detected by bios due too super cheapo ram slots--even my cheapo ak31a shuttle ram slots are much better.

It is still under warranty from Monarch...we bought it last December and they have a 1yr parts warranty. When they replaced my board they actually sent me a DFI AK74-EC. Been up and running extremely stable since the end of September.

They have a 1yr warranty on parts. Or at least they did when we purchased our equipment end of last year. I think that is what they still have.

Yeah, when mine went bad it would toggle back and forth between damaged processor and keyboard controller failure. If memory serves, when did a cold boot it gave me the processor damage DLED. If I pressed the reset button it would give me the keyboard failure DLED. Either way, it would never POST. When I sent it back to Monarch they said that both the CPU and the mobo were fried. I'm guessing the board took the CPU out with it?
