You know, I'm still paranoid about the whole Pro2 vs Pro2A thing...the Anandtech mobo roundup reviewed the Pro2 and found it to be completely (0 crashes as opposed to other boards that crashed at least once) stable during testing...

The capacitors ( 7 x 4700mf) should be the same on both models right?...
but couldn't the south bridge difference(for ATA 66 vs ATA100) cause stability differences?
What else is controlled in the south bridge anyways?

I couldn't find the Pro2 anywhere though so I gave up and got a Pro2A, hopefully it won't have any problems :|

Call me paranoid :)

LOL...definetly paranoid,My own MSI K7T Pro is rock stable & the Pro2A when tested is supposed to be more stable(if that`s possible).

The Pro2 and the Pro2A have only one difference: the use of the 686B (ATA/100) southbridge in place of the 686A (ATA/66). There is absolutely no difference in stability between the two.

I'm paranoid

So you're saying the southbridge doesn't control anything else, and shouldn't affect stability then?

Hehe thanks for the assurance everyone ;)

I just built a system on the Pro 2a, I was slighty funny with on older bios on there, so I flashed it to the lastest one and have not had any problems.

*The instability was prob cause by a old and dying quantum HD. The bios flash did clear it up.*

the only thing the pro2-A added to the southbridge was ata-100 support so nothing else was change. I doubt that change would effect stability at all

I've had my pro2a running for about a week now and it's been awsome! Haven't tried to overclock it or anything yet, but so far so good.
