Hopefully there's someone that knows the solution to my problem....
System stats:
MSI K7T Pro2-A, T'bird 1100, 256 Meg generic RAM, 20.5 WD 7200,
Erazor X2, SBLive Value, WIN98SE, etc.

Earlier today I loaded bios version 2.4, using floppy method. Loaded optimized defaults, disabled on-board sound, modem, and power management. Seemed to run fine at the time. Shut the system down, came back several hours later and it will not boot. Upon power-up it just constantly beeps and shows S-LED pattern 0100, or red-green-red-red. The manual says this pattern means it is failing the Memory Detection Test.

I have tried all combinations of my 128M memory sticks and slots with no success.

Has anyone seen this relationship before or is the timing of my motherboard's death just coincidental? By the way, I built the system Christmas. Worked fine with bios 1.8, bios 2.2 seemd to introduce a random windows powerup problem. That was why I tried 2.4.

Did you try clearing the CMOS with the JBAT jumper or did you just reboot and enter the bios setup? If you didn't actually clear your CMOS I would give that a try.

Yep. I've cleared to CMOS several times now. I even just reseated the CPU. No luck.

It does not even bootup at all. Just sets there and constantly beeps. If it would just beep a tune at least it wouldn't be so annoying!

I kind of had the same thing when I updated to 2.4. Except I used Live BIOS. It came up with a 'Verify Error' the computer reset and beeped constantly.

I came to the conclusion that the BIOS was stuffed, so I sent it back to my retailer.

Yea, my initial thought was "RMA here I come". I was just hoping someone would say "Oh that's an easy one, just do this ...... and happily ever after." It does not hurt to dream!

Thanks.

I was a LiveBios victim also and your symptoms sure sound like what I got after It fried my bios. I called MSI and they sent me a new bios chip. Took about 10 days even though "Larry" said he would 2 day it to me. I also got one from www.badflash.com in the meantime for $23.00 preflashed with the latst bios. Not too bad if downtime is a major concern. Good Luck.

this Larry at MSI is a pathological liar, i also dealt with him too for RMA of a K7T PRO motherboard that got fried from using live bios with WinME, turns out there was bug in their software that they didn't find till i did :( he told me he was sending my board back to me via priority mail and that i would have it in those 2 days he promised JHalpin, well it turned into 2 1/2 weeks because good ole Larry put the wrong address on the package and DREDEX (FEDEX for those that like their service) let it set about 1 week in their local warehouse. i had to phone MSI and FEDEX numerous times costing me long distance charges because MSI does not have 800 phone number to find it was setting about 10 miles from my home because they didn't know what to do with the package. if you look at bottom of my post here you will see different motherboard listed now, that is why. i will never buy another MSI product for myself as long as i live thanx to LARRY of MSI

Thanks for the help. Swapping a BIOS chip has got to be a lot less headache. I hope tech support agrees. I'll just drop back to this ol' K6-III and drive in the Slooo lane for awhile!
