MSI K7T Pro2 133 FSB?!?!?

OK, here is something I need help with... I was looking up the specs on the Pro2 and Pro2a on the msi website, and noticed something weird on the bios pages. In the bios history for the Pro2, version 1.7 of the bios notes that it adds support for 'AMD k7 133 FSB cpus'. Is this true?!? I know that you can adjust the fsb from 100 to 166 in 1Mhz increments, but I was under the impression that anything near 133 would make the board crash. Could this board support 133Mhz cpu's? I thought via had a revised KT133a chipset to handle this. I also noticed that the Pro2a had no mention of support for 133fsb cpus on its bios page, but I believe it should anyhow. Below are the links to the two bios pages.

Pro2: http://download.msi.com.tw/bios/mainboard/6xxx/k7tpro2/k7tpro2.htm

Pro2a: http://download.msi.com.tw/bios/mainboard/6xxx/k7tpro2a/k7tpro2a.htm

Comments are appreciated,
Jon K...

K, I have a pro2-A and there is no way I can get it to 133.(Only to 115 stable and 119 on the post) I would assume that the "fix" will allow the new 133 chips to be used in this board, but would have to be underclocked to 100. Just a guess though.

Anyone else??

yeah, I was pretty amazed at that and flashed the bios ASAP but the board still doesnt get anywhere near 133mhz 🙁

Hey all,

I emailed msi yesterday, and recieved their prompt reply this motning in my mailbox. This was impressive in itself, and should be noted... Anyhow, the tech support person replied that the board would support 133MHz cpus, but underclocked to 100MHz... You were right JimmyZ. That kind of sucks! Oh well, can't win them all. Maybe I will wait for the new chipsets to come out.

I wasn't sure, but from what I read about the New Kt133A boards, that sounded right. The other bonus is that if you have a regular tbird 750/700. You can just slap it into the new boards and set the front side bus to 133. That will but you around 1000 with out touching the multiplyier. So you could upgrade to the new standard in pieces. Also, if you have like a 900, and you go to 133, you might have to DECREASE the multiplyier to get it to post. But heck, that's ok, your still getting the fast fsb and a high chip speed.
