I am trying to put together a Tbird/Duron system and I am having some trouble. Like the topic says I am using the Microstar Socket A board and it will not post. I have tried two different processors (Tbird 1 GHZ & Duron 700mhz). The Tbird was used with a copper spacer and an Alpha cooler and the Duron was attached to a Coolermaster AMD approved HSF. I have tried 2 different video cards (1 v6800 Pure DDR Asus GeForce AGP and a Matrox MGA PCI). I have also used 2 different sticks of RAM, both are approved by AMD.

I have tried powering up the system with just the core items needed to boot but no luck. The LED message is 4 RED lights, the little guide says this means System Power On (thats all it says, not really much help).

I sure hope I haven't burnt out 2 processors?

I am using an Enermax 350 watt Power Supply which is also approved by AMD.

I am assuming it is a bad board so I am going to see about replacing that. Any other possibilies? I've built many PCs so I don't think it's something stupid.

Thanks,

-Giz

Gizmology, sorry to hear that, btw mine is rock stable ,just installed it today ,did not have to do a clean install.Try checking all your leads are the right way round it`s possible you got one of the few bad boards so just double check everything is seated okay, last thing try resetting the CMOS with that jumper on the board ,don`t be dismayed this board is excellent once you get it running.

Hey there.

I had the same problems with exact the same board after haveing been trying EVERYTHING, the only solution I had left was to go down for an exchange MB.
The new one rocks.

Its a common BIOS problem the dealer said. Just go to change it.

Cheers

Thanks for the responses guys. This really makes me feel better about the whole situation because I have been putting together computers for a while now and I have never had any DOA parts.

I got my MIS K7T Pro working perfectly the first boot (well except I put the Power lead cable around the wrong way) I am very happy with it. Sorry to hear you got a dud.
But you won't be dissapointed with the new one.

(I kinda wish I had a problem so I could see the little leds tell me somthin :) )
