MSI K7T Pro Micro (6340) for Radeon AIW entertainment center?

A system centered around the Radeon All-in-Wonder, with its TIVO abilities should make a great entertainment appliance - tv on demand, hi-quality vcr, DVD player, MP3 player, and networked computer for gaming. I'll use a IBM 45 gig 75GXP drive, and probably my Monster 300 (Aureal) sound card (at least for now).

But I'm not sure about the motherboard and case. Stability will be more important than a few percentage points performance. And I've got a limited budget. It would be nice to have a small and quiet black desktop case. I could go with a MSI Pro2A with a full sized case, and be able to overclock and us ATA100. Or my latest idea is the MSI 6340 - which I _believe_ is identical to the K7T Pro, except micro ATX with 1 agp and 3 pci slots. I'd lose the ability to change the multiplier and therefore most overclocking abilities, but save some money to put towards a 1 ghz processor. I'd also lose ATA100, but I think that will be only a tiny performance hit. I'll only need 2 pci slots - one ethernet and one sound.

Anyone with experience with the 6340?
Anyone built a similar entertainment center?
And where is a good place to get cases?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Anyone with experience with the MSI 6340?

Definitely nervous about the ATI drivers, but that is a separate problem...

Hi NAC, I've got an MSI 6330 with an ATI Rage Fury Pro VIVO, and 12x Toshiba DVD-ROM. I was using a Diamond MX400(switched to SBLP) and I have to say all these parts work seamlessly as a home theater rig.

Thanks for the response Die Hardware,
Sounds good 🙂

Still not positive if the 6330 & 6340 are the same other than the missing PCI slots. But the jpg of the 6340 at the MSI website has "K7TM Pro" written next to the AGP slot. Probably gonna go with it.

Gotta wait a couple weeks for my bonus...

I'm having a discussion with myself, outloud.
Just realizing that micro ATX cases come with micro ATX power supplies. I don't want to feed a hungry 1ghz Thunderbird and Radeon AIW with 145 watts. Hmm... hope I can find a micro case with a big power supply...
