Hey Guys,

Setup a new sys. 1.47GHz XP. 256 MB Crucial DDR, etc etc.... The system boots and the fans spin up but I don't get any display through the integrated graphics. (Tried two different monitors).

1) I've tried reseating everything and redoing all connections.
2) I've cleared the CMOS.
3) Which jumpers turn the PC Speaker on (Buzzer) the manual says short pins 14,15 for both enable and disable (typo).
4) Is the Asus 7100 (MX400) a 3.3v card or 1.5v card?
5) Any other ideas?

Did you hook up the D-bracket? If so which lights are you seeing? If the board or the cpu is fried the display will not show and fans and stuff will still spin ! Are you getting the initial beep at startup?

I'll connect the D-Bracket later today. And no I don't hear a beep hence, point 3 in my original post.

You don't have to hook up that "buzzer" to get a BEEP sound - and - you are right, that "piece of CRAP" Manual does say to hook up the Buzzer this way to enable and the same way to Disable. We gave up on that stupid buzzer - we were worn out trying to figure out HOW they were TRYING to tell us to connect up the HD/Power LED lights - - - that was a real MYSTERY, but we solved it in spite of there NON-Directions.
Don't get me wrong - I really like my NForce board - BUT because of MSI's lower than poor quality Manual (still being written I believe) I would NEVER buy another MSI Product.

Good Luck and may The NForce B w U2!

I had absolutly no problem with the manual at all! I perosonally thought the problem with the manual was the onboard sound jumpers!

I had a similar problem when I built a system using the K7N420. I don't remember if the fans spun up (I think they did). My problem was related to the power supply.

So, if you have another power supply you can test with I recommend giving that a shot.

I did get the D-Bracket hooked up on Friday night and all 4 LEDs stay red so either the CPU isn't correctly seated (which I checked) or the CPU is toast. So I'm taking the rig back in to the shop today and they can get it posting and I'll finish the setup. I can't waste anymore of my time on it (hell it isn't even my system it's for my mother-in-law to be).

Sorry to hear about your problems. FWIW, my K7N420 has been running rock solid since Day 1. Sitting in an Evercase ECE4252 w/ 300w Enhance PS. I'd definitely buy from MSI again, although I can't say I've been overly impressed with the Nvidia drivers for the APU on this setup.

Hey Guys, Thanks for you help and encouragement. I got everything sorted out yesterday. Something was toast on the motherboard and they've replaced it for me. I got WinXP installed last night and the system is beautiful, fast and not 'too' hot (about 47C idle....but that's just with a thermal pad...I may scrape it and use some AS).
