Dear all,

I have a problem with my new motherboard, the MSI K7N2 Delta2-SLR. I am using a prehistoric AthlonXP1600+ with a stick of Crucial PC2100 256MB (old system) and PC2700 512MB (newly purchased). After installing all the parts I proceeded to start the computer. It boots perfectly and runs through all the tests without any error. However, when it's about to boot into windows, it gives me the option of safe mode, netowrking blah blah, bascially it says i didn't start my computer correctly. I tried choosing safemode or last known good config but the computer simply restarts when either is chosen. So I tried reinstalling windows from scratch. The dos drivers and files are copied before it freezes at "Setup is starting windows" at the blue screen. This is before I get to the screen to accept the user agreement (remember, still in the dos blue screen). I am using an Antec Sonata with the stock 380W PSU. Video card is a 8500DV. Harddrives are Maxtor 80GB and WD 80GB 8mb. I just want to know what the problem is and where it lies. CPU Temp is within normal range btw. Thank you very much for helping.

What version of Windows?

Since you said DOS, I'm assuming 98SE?

98SE can't really handle 512mb of ram - google for 98SE 512mb or some such. There's some informative posts there.
